Tannadice Farms is located in the Dove Creek area of the Comox Valley, about 10 minutes north west of downtown Courtenay. The farm consists of 105 acres, about 70 of which is cropped, and the rest is in forest, building sites, yards etc. Our main crops are grass and corn. The cattle and the chickens graze the grass in the spring and summer and excess grass is harvested as silage and stored for winter feeding. The corn is harvested in the fall and fed to the cattle over the winter. We use all the manure that the various animals produce, by applying it to the land. We were recently one of the four farms in B.C. chosen to be evaluated by the Ministry of Agriculture for nutrient management. That means we gauge our inputs (manure) onto the land and then test our outcome ( feed quality), to see if we are making the best use of our resources in an environmentally sound fashion. We believe that if we look after the land, it will be good to us.

cows and barn We believe in raising our animals is a clean, minimal-stress environment. All these animals have access to nutritious food, clean bedding and clean water. The feeder pigs are in a naturally ventilated greenhouse type building that lets in lots of light. The cattle are fed grass and corn silage that we grow on the farm, supplemented some years by flattened barley. We purchase grains for the pigs and chickens, which contain no animal byproducts, hormones or antibiotics .

Our meat is produced, processed and sold locally. We sell at the Farmers' Market , from our farm store or via our internet ordering and delivery system.
