At Tannadice Farms, we take great pride in producing high quality, succulent meats that are enjoyed by our friends and neighbours across Vancouver Island. We've been a part of the Comox Valley for more than four decades. We continue to be family owned and operated, and we remain deeply committed to our community.
In 1974, high school sweethearts Heather and Allen McWilliam decided to leave behind the city life of Victoria in pursuit of a more gratifying rural lifestyle. With the purchase of 15 acres near Dove Creek, the couple established a humble farming operation that would be true to their values of ethics and sustainability.
In order to register their small herd of purebred Black Angus cattle, the McWilliams needed to first register a name for their new farm. Since both Heather and Allen have ancestral roots in Scotland, and since Scotland is also the homeland of the Angus breed, they dusted off an old Atlas from Heather's teaching days in Victoria and began searching for a Scottish place name that would honour both their heritage and that of their herd. It didn't take long to locate the village of Tannadice, appropriately located within the seaside county of Angus. Tannadice Farms was born.
Heather and Allen's labour of love quickly grew into a thriving business. By 1995 their 15-acre cattle farm had blossomed into a 105-acre operation with chickens, pigs, cattle and 70 acres of feed crops. Throughout it all, the McWilliams remained committed to their principles and continued to honour both their animals and their growing base of loyal customers through their value-based methods.
Today, Tannadice Farms products are recognized as some of the freshest, most healthful meats available anywhere on Vancouver Island. Look for them at your favourite local restaurants and food stores, or contact Heather and Allen to purchase your meat directly from the farm.
